Meditation Exercise: Meditating on Sunlight

“Feelings come and go like clouds in a windy sky. Conscious breathing is my anchor.”
― Thich Nhat Hanh, Stepping into Freedom: Rules of Monastic Practice for Novices

This meditation practice can be used if you have to stop at a traffic light, or if you are parked or standing outside.

Watch the top of a tree and just be aware of the leaves there for 2 minutes.
If there is a breeze, feel the wind on your face and allow it’s movement to slow down your breathing.

It’s so amazing that with such a simple exercise, how quickly you reconnect with Mother Nature.. Allow your heart to feel love, gratitude and appreciation for being alive.

“People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don’t even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child — our own two eyes. All is a miracle.”
― Thich Nhat Hanh
