Meditation Exercise: Mindful Cloud or Star Watching Meditation

This is an especially useful and simple meditation. Just watch the clouds for 2 full minutes- Either out of a window, or seated on a chair outside.

Silently gazing at the clouds, or watching the stars on a clear star lit night sky brings back awareness to a deeper presence within your heart. This open eyed meditation actually helps the eyes and brain to reset your nervous system, so that you can be closer or in tone with nature.

  • Take some deep inhalation and exhalation belly breaths.
  •  Watch the clouds or the stars in the night sky. Give yourself permission to do so for at least 2 minutes
  • Feel the Peace… Do not allow thoughts or speak of the experience for the next 15 minutes or so, as the quieting down and re-integration of your body and mind occurs with Nature.

After Meditation:

It’s good to pay attention to the time after meditation. After every meditation, it is a good idea to come back to awareness of your physical body, by gently rubbing your palms together- creating warmth in your hands, and placing your hands on your eyes, face, and neck.

You may also like to pat gently your body- Your chest, your liver, your spleen, and kidneys to awaken them back into activity. Do some light stretching so you are fully awake and in your body.

It’s great to meditate, even if its only for a few minutes, as you will feel energized and refreshed, but it’s also important to get into the practice of grounding yourself so that you can have the energy to do what you are meant to do!
